The main character in this book is a lawyer named Mitchell McDeere. Mitch is working for a very rich law firm named Bendini, Lambert & Locke. One day Mitch is approached by someone from the FBI. As Mitch and Tarrance, FBI agent, keep in touch Mitch finds out that his law firm has tapped his phones and are watching every move Mitch makes. Mitch also learns from the FBI that the deaths of two partners, of the firm, were not accidents. Mitch meets the director of the FBI and finds out that the law firm is not owned by the partners but by the Mob.
After five years with the firm, a lawyer either becomes a member of the Mob or gets killed if they try to leave the firm. The two partners who died were killed because they found out that they were working for the Mob and they wanted to leave. Now Mitch had a choice. He could stay with the firm, pretend like he knows nothing, become rich, and retire early. Or he can help the FBI bust the firm. The problem is that if he helps the FBI, he has a chance of getting killed and if stays with the firm, the FBI is certain that they will bust the firm and Mitch will be busted with them. Read to find out if Mitch escapes death and helps the FBI or if he becomes a millionaire and runs from the FBI.
